Niimi College is located in Niimi City, Okayama Prefecture. Niimi City is located in the northwestern part of Okayama Prefecture, which is between Hyogo Prefecture and Hiroshima Prefecture. Niimi is about two hours and a half by train or about three hours and a half by expressway bus from Osaka Station, which is about an hour by express train from Kansai International Airport.

Niimi College was founded as Niimi Women's College by the allied governments of Niimi City, Osa Town, Shingo Town, Tessei Town and Tetta Town. This style of foundation is rare, and this is the first one in Japan. The college plays important roles for well-being of residents in Ashin area, as an higher educational institution, as a life-long educational establishment and as an information center for health and welfare.

Niimi College has three departments, Nursing, Early Childhood Education and Community Welfare. Most of the students entered the college just after, or within a year or two after graduating from highschools in Japan (10th-12th grade). We also have special entrance exam systems for mature students (the Departments of Nursing and Community Welfare) and for returnees (the Department of Nursing).

In the Department of Nursing, students study with the intention of being a nurse. At the point of graduation, students take State Examination for Registered Nurse, and most of them become a nurse. Some of them step up to a four-year college, a school for public health nurse,or a midwifery school.

In the Department of Early Childhood Education, students learn to become a kindergarten teacher or a nursery teacher. Most of the graduates work for a kindergarten or a nursery. Some step up to a four-year college, and a few work for a company.

The Department of Community Welfare is newly founded. The students learn about community culture as well as welfare. Most of the students become a care worker for the elderly.
